ABOUT WINTERLUDE

Following on from the success of the inaugural Winterlude of 2011, this year aims to be bigger and better with nine days crammed full of activities and events.

Daytime events include the infamous daily ‘Whack Off’ where students bash piñatas for goodies, the brand new Shilling Club will host a live musical act each day and serve mulled wine, students will also be treated to Lunch on the Lawn, flash mobs and get the chance to partake in mini golf and a drag race - think high heels not wheels!

Events held in the evening kick off with a Night of Light and finish with the ever popular Drive-In-Movie. In between there is a Faux Lecture series starring renowned comedian Heath Franklin as Chopper, a vibrant Night Market, CUBA Jib - a chance for skiers and snowboarders to impress on a ramp covered with imported snow, a Fashion Show, Burlesque performance and three premier concerts.

WINTERLUDE CONCERTS

On Thursday the 12th of July, electro pop goddess Ladyhawke makes a welcome return to New Zealand to play at the new Events Centre. She will be performing her musical gems such as ‘My Delirium’, ‘Paris Is Burning’ and ‘Back Of The Van’ from her multiple Tui Award winning self-titled debut album and showcase tunes from her forthcoming album, Anxiety.

On Friday the 13th of July, The Perfect Storm will be hitting campus as the largest clubs go head to head on 4 different stages. They will each be sussing out some of New Zealand’s hottest acts so we have the perfect mix of music genres. Line-ups will be announced shortly, but we know there will be a main stage, a container maze, a silent disco and an ice bar!

Saturday the 14th of July, sees the return of local legends Shapeshifter to The Bedford Big Top. They will be belting out their unique mix of drum & bass, jazz, funk, rock & electronica including some new material. This will be the last opportunity to see them in these parts for some time as they are heading off to tour Europe. Shapeshifter will be ably supported by AHoriBuzz and Sunshine Sound System.

Get yourself a ticket to Shapeshifter for just $50. Open to the public: http://www.dashtickets.co.nz/event/nvxwjd0s1
