The UCSA has a huge range of promotional and advertising platforms available to businesses and other organisations.
The University of Canterbury community includes 15,000 students and over 3,000 staff. Our platforms are designed to deliver messaging to both these groups, as well their extended friend and family networks.
We know our market, and we're always keen to discuss what will work best for your business.

CANTA magazine is our free student magazine - printed fortnightly, and distributed to 16 branded stands around the UC campus. CANTA has been around since 1930, and shows no signs of slowing down! While print media has generally taken a downward turn, we've invested in CANTA (including hiring a full-time Editor and a number of other part-time staff) and ensured it continues as a much-loved part of the UC student experience.
A full page ad in CANTA is: $900
A half page ad is: $550
A banner ad is: $250

It will come as no surprise to hear that our students love social media. The UCSA has been active of Facebook as far back as 2004! If you want to reach millennials, Facebook is obviously one of the best platforms - but you have to get your messaging right.
Our UCSA Facebook page now has over 24,000 likes. We carefully manage the page - with competitions, photo albums, original videos and live streams - to ensure our posts regularly achieve a reach of 10,000-20,000.
You can view our page here: fb.com/theUCSA
A post on our main Facebook page (image + text) is: $750
We work with all our clients to ensure their messaging is appropriate for our audience.

SnapChat is extremely popular (and growing) among our students. The UCSA has been quick to recognise the appeal of this image and video-based app, and now has 3,500+ SnapChat followers.
Our Student Exec regularly update our story with a range of giveaways and "on now" messaging. We have great engagement with our followers, and average 1,000+ views per story.

There are seven large poster bollards on the UC campus - and the UCSA manage all of them. We use our bollards for our own messaging (events, support, giveways), student club messaging, and external advertising. Our posters are vibrant and varied!
In a recent internal survey 78% of students rated posters as "important" or "very important" for promoting events.
We prefer to use only A3 posters when possible.
We update our bollards weekly - campaigns run Monday-Sunday.
Postering on the bollards (4 X A3s on each of the seven bollards) is: $250 per week
Postering on the noticeboards (as shown above) is an additional: $100 per week

UCTV (digital signage)
In early 2016 the UCSA invested in a campus-wide digital signage network we call, UCTV. There are currently 15 HD screens in the network, and (due to its success) we're looking to include even more.
UCTV features an engaging (and ever-changing!) slideshow of images and videos of our own messaging, club promotions, UC messaging, and external advertising.
Each slide is displayed 300+ times per day.
UCTV advertising is: $250 per week
For more information about UCTV (including specs for your slides) visit the page: ucsa.org.nz/UCTV
This very website is visited over 400,000 times a year. And now we've updated the site, we're be expecting that number to double. Stay tuned!
A dedicated advertising tile has been located in a key position on the new home page - with the vertical scrolling action adding to the likelihood it will be viewed by visitors.
The advertising tile measures 1200 X 200pixels - and is designed to work well on both desktop and mobile devices. The tile can click-through to any webpage.
RDU discount app
UCSA has partnered with RDU to create a multi-faceted app to serve students and the wider public. The RDU app is currently used by 1,000+ UC students.
The app offers students access to on-campus discounts through the UCSA's cafes and bars. It also offers discounts around Christchurch. Then there's the bonus of streaming student radio and gig guide!
The RDU app is a great way to advertise to students - who always love a deal! We're also able to send push notifications.
Advertising on the RDU app is currently by negotiation.

For businesses looking to reach students, there is nothing that compares to getting on campus and getting amongst them! The UCSA run all the commercial activations at the University of Canterbury, and are always keen to hear from new brands who want to make an impact. FUN is key!
We typically offer our clients 3X3m or 6X3m powered sites - in prime positions on campus. We can also negotiate spaces inside, if they are needed.
The University does not a permit 'roaming' activations, and we discourage the use of handouts and flyers due to the rubbish they can generate.
Music and other audio is negotiable - and often depends on the location, and the potential for disruption.
A four hour campus activation typically costs: $1,000
We know what works for our students, and how to make the most of your investment, so get in touch and talk through some options with us!
UCSA events are legendary around these parts! We run Orientation, Winterlude (Re-Orientation), Tea Party as well as a huge range of awards nights, cultural festivals, and wellbeing events. There is something for everyone on ever-expanding our events calendar.
