UCSA Grant: UC Wine Club Winery Tour

Our day started off with having some Cava and pastries on the patio outside the Staff Club while we waited for the bus to arrive. We jumped on the bus and we travelled out to Waipara. We first visited Pegasus Bay Winery. We tasted wine in their barrel room and in their extensive gardens. Greystone Wines was our second winery visit where we had a picnic lunch and tasted their wines. We then visited Torlesse Wines and Terrace Edge. Each winey was a different wine tasting experience and they all had something different to offer. At Pegasus Bay we saw a part of the wine making process (the wine barrels). Greystone Wines offered natural wines, including an orange wine. At Torlesse Wine we tried their delicious Creme de Cassis (black current liqueur). Terrace Edge allowed us to taste their olives and olive oil that they produce alongside their wines. We tasted 5-7 wines at each vineyard. 26 people came on the bus trip and we all thoroughly enjoyed the day. To myself and many others this event was one of the highlights of the year for the wine club. Without the use of a bus it wouldn't have been possible to have a wine bus trip.
