The UCSA has a goal to maintain majority ownership and operation of the new building so we have a permanent base for our clubs, advocacy, student services and businesses.

The land for this exciting build has been given by UC and 80% of the project funding has already been provided by the UCSA, UC and insurance settlements. The UCSA is now campaigning to raise the project shortfall of $5m so we can return the student body to its home across the river.

A new state-of-the-art replacement building is planned for the same site and will allow students to have a base that is accessible, inviting, supportive and fun.

Our new home will include:

  • A new Ngaio Marsh Theatre
  • Social, hospitality, meeting, club, office, business and event spaces including The Foundry and Bentley’s
  • An outdoor amphitheatre  overlooking the Avon River
  • Student welfare and advocacy spaces.

The meeting and event spaces will also be available for public and community use during University breaks.
