Meet Your New Postgrad Rep – George
Kia ora koutou!
Welcome to UC for 2020! To those who have been continuing your studies over the summer period I hope that you were able to get some productive work done. To those commencing their postgraduate study this year, I hope you have had a brilliant summer and are refreshed and ready for the awesome year ahead. During this early stage of the year, the UCSA organise a number of O.Week events to help all students get familiar with UC, the campus facilities and the extra-curricular opportunities that are on offer here at UC. O.Week is for all students so make sure to get involved!
Here is a juicy summary of some events that may be of interest to you. A list of all events can be found on the Event Calendar.

Clubs day is a great opportunity to see all of the clubs UC has on offer – There are clubs to satisfy everyone’s interests so this is an event that is definitely one to have a look at! One club specific to Postgrads is the PGSA – UC’s social club for Postgrads. This club is a great way to meet and become friends with fellow postgraduate students outside of your usual department.
Summer Stein, Mardi Gras and Electric Ave (18th, 20th and 22nd of February respectively)
If you love music, be sure to get amongst some/all of the events that are available during O.Week! There are some awesome artists coming so be sure to make the most of the opportunity!
I hope you make the most of events available during O.Week (I know I will be, so hope to see you there!). Again, make sure to have a look at the UCSA website for a full list of events! There are a variety of music, movie, market and sporting events to get involved with.
Also, don’t forget the living room (located beside the bookshop) is a space for postgrad’s to call theirs! One further tip (a MUST DO in my opinion), if you are on Facebook I would recommend joining the PGSA Noticeboard. This group is a community full of like-minded postgraduate students at UC.
Feel free to send an email through if you have any questions/concerns related to your postgraduate study at UC.
