The University of Canterbury Christian Union is a group of Christian students at the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand. Our aim is to live and speak for Jesus, and to help others come to know him at the university. We're convinced that the news about Jesus is significant for our world, and can be investigated with intellectual honesty. We are committed to the centrality of the gospel of Jesus' death and resurrection, and seek to communicate that message clearly, persuasively, and creatively. You'll see a number of clubs operating around university. Chess fans join the chess club, petrol-heads join Motosoc. But the Christian Union isn’t just a club for people who are ‘into’ religion. The Christian message relates to all of life, because it tells the story of our world from beginning to end. That’s why you’ll find all sorts of people in the Christian Union. We are united not through a special interest, but because we think the news about Jesus is the key to understanding ourselves and the world. We are passionate about understanding all of life in light of the gospel message. We are affiliated with TSCF (Tertiary Students Christian Fellowship), which links us with Christian Unions around New Zealand. We are also affiliated with the University of Canterbury Students Association. We run a weekly bible study and several other social events throughout the semester, check out our Facebook page for more info.
