Have Your Say

The Student Executive

The Student Exec is a group of 15 elected student reps who act as the UCSA's governing body, helping to make sure we're for students, by students. They are also active on a local and national level and sit on close to 45 boards and committees across the University.

Reach out:

Email the Student Exec or visit them in Haere-roa to give feedback or ask questions. Find their email addresses here.

Head to an Executive Committee meeting. They take place every fortnight during term-time. Just send us an email before coming along – we’ll need to confirm the meeting time and venue.

Add a suggestion to Suggestion Box.

UCSA Elections

Every year in term 3, students get the opportunity to run for the Student Exec in the UCSA Elections, and to vote online for their preferred representatives. The UCSA gets a high voter turnout, and Elections are a big deal on campus – get involved!

AGMs

We hold an Annual General Meeting (AGM) in term 2 and a Half-AGM in term 3 each year, and students are encouraged to come along. These meetings are a chance to grab some free food, hear what we've been working on, and to ask your own questions. Students are also welcome to submit agenda items (refer to the UCSA Constitution for timeframes).

Keep an eye on our website and social media for dates and deadlines.

Class Reps

These student reps act as liaisons between classes and lecturers. Each class should have its own elected or volunteer class rep, whose task is to be the first point of contact for students to help resolve class issues at a low level, and thereby help to avoid bigger problems later. Class Reps are trained and will offer guidance and support for their classmates on general course issues. This includes things which the whole class has issues with. They can help you communicate your issues to the lecturer and also provide feedback to the relevant departments about how things are going with your course.

The UCSA run Class Rep Feedback Forums once per semester to provide an effective channel of communication between students in the Colleges and the UCSA Student Exec, and these are a great way for the UCSA to hear about what is going on.

Advisory Groups

International, Postgraduate, Equity and Wellbeing, and Pasifika.

These four advisory groups are responsible for providing student feedback to the UCSA Student Exec (and any other relevant party) to help strengthen the student voice and experience. We recruit members towards the end of each year, and students are welcome to apply. Learn more about the groups here

Surveys

We want to make sure that we’re providing the best possible services for students, so we often ask for your feedback. Keep an eye out for our student survey in term 4, plus our smaller ad hoc opinion polls on Facebook ('Two Cents for a Week's Rent').
