The University of Canterbury Fijian Students' Association aims to bring Fijian students, academics, non-students and those that are not Fijian together under one cocoon. It is a place where we can celebrate Fijian culture as well as other pacific cultures and meet fellow Fijian and pacific students in Canterbury. Most importantly it is an association that aims to be a "home away from home". We are commonly known as UC Fiji ✨
UC Fiji was proudly reaffiliated in 2023, marking the start of a new chapter. Since then, we’ve reignited student engagement, hosted vibrant cultural events, and built a growing vuvale (family) of Fijian and Pacific students on campus.
Each term, we host events to bring our community together:
Term 1 – Bula BBQ A relaxed social to start the year with good kai and vibes.
Term 2 – Kava Night A cultural evening of connection, talanoa, and tradition.
Term 3 – Cultural Night Celebrating Pacific identity through performances, food, and storytelling.
Term 4 – Fijian Language Week Honouring and promoting the Fijian language and cultural pride.
