MECHsoc

The University of Canterbury Mechanical Society (MECHsoc) is a student-led organization dedicated to uniting and empowering the mechanical engineering community. Established to address the need for a cohesive group within the discipline, MECHsoc fosters connections among students and bridges the gap between academia and industry. Through a range of events, from industry nights and mentorship programs to quiz nights and BBQs, the society offers members opportunities to build professional networks, enhance their academic experiences, and develop meaningful relationships with peers and industry leaders.

MECHsoc is driven by three core objectives: to develop connections within the mechanical engineering cohort, to build bridges between students and industry professionals, and to foster academic support. These goals shape everything we do, from hosting targeted events like study sessions aligned with key assessment periods to offering platforms where students can gain real-world insights from industry experts.
