Why are we always busy, distracted, and restless? Why is it so difficult simply to be at peace? Long before smartphones and social media, the early Christian Fathers identified the deepest cause of our inner agitation and proposed a path to true freedom. They called it hesychia—the stillness of a heart completely centred on Christ. This talk will explore the biblical roots of hesychia, its rich development in the Fathers of the Church, and how this ancient wisdom offers a practical and surprisingly relevant answer to the anxiety, distraction, and search for meaning that mark modern life.
